We stayed at Quinta Do Monte for 3 nights and it was the perfect add-on to our trip. The hotel's location on top of the mountain provided a unique and quiet atmosphere, overlooking beautiful views of Funchal. The staff were friendly and always ready to assist. The spacious rooms offered a comfortable stay with a nice view. The hotel's restaurant served delicious food with a well-thought-out menu. The tropical gardens surrounding the hotel were stunning and added to the overall charm of the place.

A really welcoming hotel. We expected it to be out of the way as we had had lunch in the garden many times. Obviously cooler then in the centre of Funchal but not a problem for us as this is what we expected.
Welcoming

Cannot find any fault.

Great location with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The hotel is situated in a peaceful and scenic environment, perfect for relaxation. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel provides a shuttle service, making it convenient to explore nearby attractions.
The carpets were dirty and the pool area was not well-maintained. The lack of WiFi in the rooms was inconvenient.

This is the only hotel I have ever seen where the photographs on the hotel's website actually understate the beauty of the hotel's interior and grounds. The hotel is set in a stunning location, in the mountainside village of Monte above Funchal. It is surrounded by its own subtropical garden, but the town has an even larger public garden with equally beautiful flowers, plants, and trees. The staff were kind, informative, and helpful. We had a minor problem with our room, and they immediately moved us to a new one. Because the hotel is away from Funchal, for a stay longer than a few days we would recommend hiring a car. Aside from giving you easy access to Funchal (where parking is no problem), it will allow you to explore other parts of the island.
The temperatures in Monte are a good bit lower than in Funchal. Although the rooms are well heated, on some days the public areas were a bit chilly. But this is trivial compared to the many positive things the hotel offers.

We loved staying in this beautiful hotel, with stunning views of the island accessible by cable car which was practically in the garden. the botanical garden was also just a short ride away on the same cable car. the rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a great bathroom and fantastic service. the breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. We highly recommend this hotel, especially for the breathtaking view from the balcony.
The WiFi only worked in the public areas, not in the rooms.

The breakfast selection was good and the tropical gardens were beautiful, making for a relaxing atmosphere. the staff were friendly and helpful.
The lack of management was evident and some staff members weren't interested in assisting guests. the rooms were dated and could use some updates to match the beautiful gardens.

I had an amazing time at this hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the location was perfect for exploring the mountain and botanical gardens. The hotel facilities were excellent, including a lovely pool and great breakfast buffet. Additionally, transportation was easily accessible, as the cable car was virtually in the garden, and there were small restaurants and bars just around the corner.
Couldn't stay longer.

The hotel was situated in a peaceful location and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The breakfast buffet had a varied selection of tasty and fresh food to choose from. One amazing feature was the beautiful view from the rooms that overlooked the surrounding mountains.
The hotel lacked some amenities. For example, there was no coffee maker in the room and the bar was not always staffed.

The hotel's public rooms were beautifully decorated in a charming country estate style. The lovely flower arrangements added a touch of elegance. As a senior woman, I appreciated the comfortable bedroom with excellent views of the garden and beyond. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. The hotel gardens were also well-maintained, providing a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
One thing that could have made the vacation even better for senior people like myself would be to have more choice of restaurants in the evening. However, I understand that this may have been due to visiting early in the season, so it is not a reflection on the hotel itself.

The atmosphere was charming and the furniture and paintings added to the luxurious feel. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful garden that is very well maintained. The staff at the reception was extremely helpful and friendly, and the restaurant nearby was very good. We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere here, as well as the lovely views. The hotel also offers a free bus service to other hotels in the area for meals, which was a nice added bonus. we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place to others.
The hotel is in a quiet area, so it may not be suitable for those who are looking for a more lively nightlife. However, for those who appreciate a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, this hotel is perfect.

I got to use all the facilities of other hotels, had a great meal at Restaurant Monte Garden, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the kiosk. Easy access to the city center was a bonus.
Who needs a safe hotel with fire extinguishers and security systems? Such a bother!
